ABOUT OUR CHAPTER

Kappa Alpha Theta is a chapter that focuses on being leading women. We find value in being women who can change the world. Our chapter, the Beta Theta chapter, was established by women, for women. Within our chapter, we have an executive board that is in charge of running different portions of our chapter's functions.

Meet the Leading Women that make up the 2020 Beta Theta Executive Board!

INTRODUCING OUR  CHIEF EXECUTIVE OFFICER

"Great things never came from comfort zones" -Roy T. Bennett

My name is Hailey Vachon and I am so excited to be serving as Beta Theta’s president for this year! I am originally from western Washington, where I grew up in a family of 6 and am the youngest of four siblings. I have a twin brother who is currently serving our country in the US Coast Guard, and he is one of my best friends. As a family, we would travel for months at a time while we were in middle and high school. In fact, I’ve been to all seven continents! After high school, I knew I wasn’t quite ready to go to college yet and I wanted to take my time to learn more about myself. I ended up taking a gap year, where I went abroad by myself to New Zealand and Central America. Moving to Idaho was definitely difficult for me because I didn’t know anybody at the University and was planning on going through recruitment which can already be pretty nerve wracking. After only the first day of recruitment, I knew that Theta was the place for me. I knew that the women in the chapter would push me to reach for goals that I might be scared to try for otherwise. The leadership opportunities that have grown for me since joining this chapter have been life changing, not only within the chapter but outside of the chapter as well. I joined the Vandals club soccer team, where I was finally able to let my competitive spirit loose once again. I also joined the criminology club, where I serve as the Secretary. It has also pushed me academically, as I am in the Greek honor society Order of Omega and the sociology honors society Alpha Kappa Delta. As a second semester junior, I am double majoring in Sociology with a Criminology Emphasis and Psychology as well as a minor in Justice Studies. I hope that after I graduate I can take another year to travel with my brother, and then move on to graduate school. Whether that will be law school is still a big question for me! My experiences within Theta have absolutely shaped who I am and I am so glad that I get to always be a part of such a special family!
